The Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG) will be showcasing a new exhibition marking the 150-year anniversary of women gaining access to university education in Denmark.
Venue: Atriumgården, University Library of Southern Denmark
Date: March 7 - April 23
The exhibition will highlight the female trailblazers in Danish educational history before and after 1875, as well as highlight the lives of female students over the last 150 years. The exhibition will feature sources and artefacts including among other things historical grade lists, student biographies and school textbooks. The exhibition will also incorporate data collected by the Human Capital of the Nordic Countries (HCNC) project, which seeks to map the history of education and human capital more broadly in Nordic countries.
The exhibition is open to everyone.
The exhibition will later be shown at University of Copenhagen.
The exhibition was created by HEDG members Nicholas Martin Ford (University of Southern Denmark), Paul Sharp (University of Southern Denmark) and Christian Alexander Abildgaard Nielsen (University of Sothern Denmark), as well as partners from other universities: Kristin Ranestad (University of Oslo) and Pelle Oliver Larsen (University of Copenhagen)
A special thank you to librarian Mogens Kragsig Jensen (University Library of Southern Denmark) and museum director Cæcilie Ning Hage (Tidens Samling ) for helping procure historical artefacts for the exhibition.
