FUSION

Project description

Climate change poses a challenge across regional and national borders and requires well-organized, cross-border actions as well as behavioral changes to slow its progression.
Climate change is a generational problem. However, studies show that many high school students on both sides of the German-Danish border feel a strong sense of powerlessness in the face of climate change.

The FUSION project aims to help young people overcome their fears regarding climate change and develop an optimistic outlook on the future. Through this positive approach, they will be guided to develop and implement joint climate initiatives across regional and national borders.

To reach the youth, a teaching module for English classes at German and Danish high schools will be developed. This module is intended to encourage students to imagine positive climate scenarios, rather than the dystopian visions they are often confronted with. Additionally, they will be tasked with writing a short story about their climate visions, which will be analyzed in the lectures by the participating students.

For this purpose, a platform will be established to provide the teaching materials. The platform will also serve as a short story archive and networking platform for the participating students and is intended to be accessible to all interested parties long term.

Additionally the students will meet through network and job camps to create cross-border collaboration in the field of climate protection. The goal is to make young people more aware of future climate-related job opportunities in the region and to help them view these opportunities more positively.

FUSION aims to be the infrastructure that will serve to develop regional climate change activities regional and serve as a cross-project infrastructure.

The project aims to achieve the following goals:

  1. To overcome the sense of powerlessness of German and Danish high school students on both sides of the German-Danish border.
  2. To present actionable solutions for achieving a sustainable climate future.
  3. To develop a learning module to be integrated into the English curriculum at high schools.
  4. To develop and implement joint climate initiatives across the German-Danish border.
  5. To provide high school students with insights into future career opportunities and strategies for responding to climate change.
  6. To establish a cross-border network that creates climate change initiatives.
