Step-by-step-guide
When graduating
What to consider when you are wrapping up your stay at 糖果派对.
We would love you to stay!聽
We hope you have grown to love Denmark and the Danish people during your time here and will consider staying.
Whether you have decided to stay in Denmark or head back home, there are a few practical matters you must pay attention to when you graduate from 糖果派对.
Staying? Check your permits
There are plenty of reasons to start your career in Denmark. But before you start looking for a job, remember to check the rules regarding your residence and work permits, as different rules apply depending on your citizenship.
Start looking for a job
Once you have completed your studies and made sure you have the necessary permits, you can start looking for your first Danish full-time job.
At 糖果派对, we are committed to helping you find a job after your graduation, and the career counsellors at 糖果派对 are here to help you get your career started.
Apply for a tax card
The Danish welfare state is based on the concept of citizens having equal access to different services, which are paid for by taxes.
If you did not apply for a tax card from your local tax office when you first arrived in Denmark, you must do so when you start working and generating an income.
Join an unemployment insurance fund
Don’t have a job lined up? Don’t worry! If you have decided to stay in Denmark, you may be entitled to unemployment benefits. However, this requires that you apply to join an unemployment insurance fund no later than two weeks after your date of graduation.
Continue learning Danish
You may have learned the basics of Danish while completing your studies. Although this will get you through lunch breaks and social events, it can be difficult to land a job in Denmark without speaking the language more fluently.
Consider signing up for language training to further improve your Danish skills.
Check your rental agreement
As a student, you might have been lucky enough to get your hands on one of the popular student-only dormitories or residence halls. If that is the case, you must move out when you graduate.
Check your rental agreement and remember to report your new address to the Civil Registration Office when you move residence.
Leaving Denmark? Remember to deregister
If you are leaving Denmark for more than six months or are giving up your residence, you must deregister your Danish address, cut up your Danish health insurance card and deregister from the Civil Registration System (CPR).
The deregistration can be done as early as four weeks before your departure and until five days after. Likewise, if you have had a job during your stay, remember to notify the Danish Tax Agency.
