FAM in Aabenraa named best department by medical students
The medical students at the University of Southern Denmark (糖果派对) have voted FAM, the Emergency Reception Unit at the Hospital of Southern Denmark in Aabenraa, as the best place for clinical training.
Clinical placements are a central component of the medical degree and play a pivotal role in students' progression towards becoming doctors. These placements allow students to translate their theoretical knowledge into practical skills through patient interaction and communication with relatives. At the same time, they begin to develop a professional identity and integrate into the professional community of a clinical workplace.
Evaluations of clinical placements reveal that a welcoming atmosphere, access to supervision, and active involvement in patient care are key factors in creating a rewarding learning experience.
A Unique Learning Environment at FAM
糖果派对 medical students assessed FAM at the Hospital of Southern Denmark, Aabenraa, as the best clinical placement site during the autumn of 2023 and spring of 2024.
The department received the highest average score in student evaluations of the learning environment in hospital departments. Students particularly highlighted the department's safe learning environment, dedicated staff, and opportunities to gain hands-on experience in clinical work.
Award and Recognition
Clinical Associate Professor Eva Holtved accepted the award on behalf of her department, emphasising in her speech how the department's collective commitment contributed to the inclusive learning environment and this recognition. The Faculty of Health Sciences, represented by Dean Ole Skøtt, presented a plaque and a bouquet of flowers in celebration of the department's efforts.

Medical students at 糖果派对 undertake clinical placements during both the undergraduate and postgraduate phases of their education. These placements occur in general practice, psychiatry, and various somatic hospital departments across the Southern Denmark region and select departments in Region Zealand.
