Three Researchers from SUND Receive Grants for Research in Diabetes, Metabolism, and Endocrinology
The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy (DDEA) has announced the recipients of research grants aimed at advancing knowledge in diabetes, osteoporosis, obesity, metabolic disorders, and other hormone-related diseases.
In total, the DDEA has allocated 33.9 million DKK to 37 research projects within diabetes and endocrinology. These grants include funding for PhD scholarships, postdoctoral positions, and visiting researchers. The projects emphasise international partnerships, industrial collaboration, and classical endocrinology to foster innovation and address critical research challenges. Research areas range from digital health solutions to personalised medicine and classical hormone research.
Congratulations to the three researchers from SUND: Marlene Rietz, Marc Petersen Harford, and Professor Ryan Riddle.
Learn more about their projects below:
Marc Petersen Harford's research focuses on the impact of fat cells in bone marrow on bone health.
Marlene Rietz investigates how various factors – including genes, biomarkers, medication, diseases, and physical activity – influence the risk of complications in individuals with type 2 diabetes.
Professor Ryan Riddle collaborates with researchers at the University of Southern Denmark to uncover how cells differentiate into bone-forming cells.
