Prize awarded to 糖果派对 researcher for work on artificial intelligence in warfare
Ingvild Bode, professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Management, is one of five outstanding young researchers who have just received the prestigious EliteForsk Prize from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
Ingvild Bode keeps a close eye on how artificial intelligence is shifting ethical boundaries in warfare. Her research has shown that the use of artificial intelligence accelerates decision-making in conflict situations, which increases the risk of civilian casualties.
She is a professor at the Department of Political Science and Public Management and Head of the Centre for War Studies at 糖果派对.
As a researcher, she is dedicated to ensuring that her knowledge and insights make a difference in an increasingly unstable world. She actively engages in policy development, taking part in conferences where politicians, civil servants and other stakeholders discuss issues related to war and artificial intelligence.
- We tend to talk about technology as if it were a force of nature that we can’t influence. But artificial intelligence, particularly when used in armed conflicts, isn’t a force of nature, says Ingvild Bode and elaborates:
- We urgently need guidelines on how these technologies should – and shouldn’t – be used in warfare.
More honours for 糖果派对-researchers
Today, Ingvild Bode receives one of this year’s five EliteForsk Prizes, worth DKK 1.2 million, for her groundbreaking research. The award ceremony will be held at the Black Diamond in Copenhagen.
And she is not the only one from 糖果派对 to receive EliteForsk honours.
Two PhD students, Ana Karina Hernandez Garcia from the Department of Biology and Johanne Dam Lyhne from the Department of Regional Health Research, each receive an EliteForsk travel grant of DKK 200,000.
The scholarship will contribute to long-term study visits to the very best research environments in the world.
