Reversed ankle monitor seeks to reduce fear in stalkingvictims

In an attempt to reduce the feeling of unsafety for victims of stalking, a proposal which seeks to implement a so-called reversed ankle monitor on the perpetrators of stalking has been proposed.

To reduce the feeling of unsafety for victims of stalking, a proposal for a pilot program involving "reverse ankle monitors" has been approved. The ankle monitor is designed to remind the perpetrator of the restrictions and thus reduce the fear experienced by the victims. The trial will include 15 ankle monitors in three police districts, with an evaluation after three years. This plan will come into effect on July 1.

Didde Hauch, a Ph.D.-student from the Danish Center of Psychotraumatology and the Danish Stalking Center, elaborated on some of the benefits of the new proposal in an interview with TV2. In the article, she also offers four helpful tips for the best possible handling of a stalking situation.
