Trine Banzon, Ph.D. student and former undergraduate student at the Danish Center of Psychotraumatology, has won a 'thesis competition' held by the Nordic Association for Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect in connection with their 13th Nordic Conference, which will take place in Copenhagen in May. The thesis is titled 'Assessment of Mental Health, PTSD, and Complex PTSD Symptoms in Greenlandic Children and Adolescents' and is part of the Center's work on validating Greenlandic assessment tools for children and adolescents.
The thesis deals, among other things, with the development of Greenlandic norms for the parent and self-report versions of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), which interested individuals can read more about in this scientific article, as well as the estimation of the prevalence of trauma exposure, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and complex PTSD (CPTSD) among Greenlandic children and adolescents, which can be read more about here.
In connection with receiving the award for best thesis, Trine will participate and present the results of her studies at the conference from May 25-28, 2025, and it will also be possible to learn more about the Center's further work in the field of children at the conference.
