Engineers conduct drone training in Guinea-Bissau

ÌǹûÅÉ¶Ô UAS is part of a UNDP project to monitor effects of climate changes

Due to climate changes and the rising sea levels, Guinea-Bissau is predicted to lose up to one quarter of its area in the next 100 years, since the country is mostly low-level coastal geography.

To help empower local authorities to monitor the situation, ÌǹûÅÉ¶Ô UAS Center have been conducting drone training for 20 members of the Ministry of Environment and Biodiversity in Guinea-Bissau in October and November 2024.

The purpose of the training was to provide a cheap digital mapping platform based on inexpensive COTS drones. A tool that can help monitor the effects of climate change and optimise farmland efficiency.

The UAS Center is currently in talks with the ministry and UNDP to conduct advanced follow-up training, either in Denmark or in Guinea-Bissau. We are also exploring ways to bring this concept to other countries in the global south.

The “Blue Coastal Drone Training” project is funded by UNDP as part of the Blue Coastal Project.
