The Danish Aging Research Center (DARC) was founded in 2008 through a grant from the VELUX FOUNDATION, which provided the basis for 5 years of aging research. A new grant of DKK 25 million, also from the VELUX FOUNDATION, facilitated a continuation of the Center as DARC II, 2013-2017. In DARC II, our research focused on the cognitive abilities of the elderly. In 2018, an additional grant of DKK 10 million from the VELUX FOUNDATION enabled us to extend the collaboration.
The VILLUM FOUNDATION and the VELUX FOUNDATION are non-commercial foundations established by Villum Kann Rasmussen – the founder of VELUX and other companies in the VKR Group whose mission it is to bring daylight, fresh air, and a better environment into people’s everyday lives.
