Danish Participation in IEA IETS Task XXII - Climate Resilience and Energy Adaptation in Industry under Uncertainty

Project Description

The primary goal of IEA IETS Task XXII - Climate Resilience and Energy Adaptation in Industry under Uncertainty is to advance the use of digitalization, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and related technologies to enhance climate resilience and energy adaptation in energy-intensive industries. This includes addressing challenges from extreme weather and fluctuating energy demands across electricity, heating, and interconnected energy systems.

The Task focuses on bridging gaps between researchers and industries to ensure knowledge on climate resilience and energy adaptation reaches sectors with significant potential for flexibility and resilience. Members will actively engage stakeholders to exchange expertise and promote collaboration.

Key objectives include expanding the knowledge base on climate resilience and energy adaptation, identifying industry needs, fostering stakeholder collaboration, and guiding future subtasks to align with evolving trends. The scope includes analyzing energy-intensive industries as standalone entities and clusters, emphasizing flexible operations, supply chain resilience, demand response, and sector coupling.

Central to the Task is leveraging digitalization and AI to optimize industrial processes and enhance demand response. The Task will explore opportunities and barriers in implementing IoT, cloud technologies, big data, and AI to help industries adapt and innovate in a dynamic energy landscape.
