Research areas

The Research Unit of Spine Medicine plans and conducts research that is anchored in the clinic and based on clinical issues. We are part of strong national and international research communities, and we actively participate in teaching in the daily clinic and at the university.

Who we are

The Research Unit of Spine Medicine is made up of researchers and a dedicated research support team. We also have a continuous intake of PhD and master's students affiliated with the department.

Our researchers are all, to varying degrees, involved with the Spine Centre’s medical outpatient clinic.

Core areas

At The Research Unit of Spine Medicine, we plan and conduct studies that are closely linked to the clinical activities at the Spine Centre, addressing real-world clinical challenges. We are also part of strong national and international research networks. In addition, we actively contribute to teaching students at the Spine Centre and the University of Southern Denmark.

Our objective

Our goal at The Research Unit of Spine Medicine is to produce high-quality research that makes a real difference in clinical practice and improves care for patients with back pain – guided by the vision: The right treatment for the right patient at the right time.
