FNUG Publications in 2024

FNUG's researchers have contributed with numerous research articles, books, and book chapters. Here are some of the highlights from 2024:

Books

– Focusing on Mathematics. For Primary School, High School, and Early Childhood Education

Book in Danish: STEM-didaktik – med fokus på matematik. Til grundskole, gymnasie og dagtilbud.

The book was published in spring 2024, by University Press of Southern Denmark. The authors are Connie Svabo, Dorte Moeskær Larsen, Maiken Westen Holm Svendsen, Katrine Bergkvist Borch, and Mette Als Kristensen. It is one of the first comprehensive attempts to share experiences and perspectives on using STEM didactics in a Danish context. The book offers, among other things, research-based and practice-oriented examples, many of which are drawn from the LabSTEM project. Read more about the book here.

Creative Pragmatics

Connie Svabo, together with Professor Michael Shanks from Stanford University, Lecturer Chunfang Zhou from FNUG, and Professor Tamara Carleton from Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden, are in the final stages of production of an edited book with the publisher Springer in the ESERA book series on science education. This book provides educators, leaders and policymakers with a visionary approach and hands on examples of how education can help students navigate complexity and unpredictability – the challenges of contemporary society. Many of FNUG's researchers have contributed to the book: Gabriele Characiejiene, Katrine Bergkvist Borch, Dorte Moeskær Larsen; Maiken Westen Holm Svendsen, Karina Kiær, Gitte Miller Balslev.

Sustainable School Life

Book in Danish: Bæredygtige Skoleliv

An anthology, published in the spring of 2024, focusing on sustainability in primary schools. All chapters in the book have a strong and broad theoretical foundation and are based on research or development projects that include perspectives from students, teachers, and school leaders, which gives the anthology a close connection to practice. The book's main argument is that current crises require new approaches. It particularly emphasizes the importance of a broad understanding of sustainability that includes ecological, social, economic, and cultural aspects, in order to understand and contribute to the development of sustainable school life in all its diversity.
The anthology is aimed at researchers, educators, students, and practitioners with an interest in research about, with, and for primary schools – viewed from a sustainability perspective. Professor Connie Svabo edited the book in collaboration with Nikolaj Elf and Thomas Skovgaard.

Education, Innovation and Collaboration in an Era of Change: Educational Development through Equity, Co-responsibility and Democracy (forthcoming)

FNUG's Gitte Miller Balslev, together with B. Ribers (ÌǹûÅɶÔ), C. Revsbech (RU) & P. H. Raae (ÌǹûÅɶÔ) are editing a book in the Routledge series on research in teacher education.

Dynamic Routines: How Changes Take Root in Organizations

Book in Danish: Dynamiske rutiner – hvordan forandringer får fodfæste i Organisationer

The book provides an understanding of the characteristics and dynamics of organizational routines, which can help organizations make well-informed decisions about why routines should be maintained and continued, or why they should be dissolved, changed, expanded, or replaced with new ones. Published by Dansk Psykologisk Forlag. Karina Kiær, postdoc at FNUG and associate professor at UC SYD, co-authored the book with Thomas R.S. Albrechtsen, associate professor at UC SYD.
