FNUG Publications in 2023

During 2023, FNUG's researchers have authored several research articles, books and book chapters. Below you will find a small excerpt

Four STEM activity booklets were published at the beginning of 2023. The booklets are one of the results of the LabSTEM project. You can read and download all four booklets in Danish from Labstem's website.

The book "STEM didactics - with a focus on mathematics". For elementary school, high school and day care" had its final period in 2023 and will be published on March 1 2024 by University Press of Southern Denmark. The book's authors are Connie Svabo, Dorte Moeskær Larsen, Maiken Westen Holm Svendsen, Katrine Bergkvist Borch and Mette Als Kristensen, and it is one of the first comprehensive attempts to share experiences with and perspectives on using STEM didactics in a Danish context. Among other things, the book offers research-based and practical examples, many of which are taken from the LabSTEM project.

Connie Svabo, together with Professor Michael Shanks, Stanford University, Associate Professor Chunfang Zhou, FNUG and Professor Tamara Carleton, Stanford University, has signed a contract with the publisher Springer for the publication of "Creative Pragmatics" in the ESERA book series on science education.

The book 'Bæredygtige Skoleliv' (Sustainable School Life) will be published in the spring of 2024. It will be edited by Connie Svabo, Nicolaj Elf and Thomas Skovgaard.

The article 'The role of mathematics in STEM', written by Connie Svabo, Mette Als Kristensen, Dorte Moeskær Larsen and Lars Seidelin, has been published in the International Journal of Education in Mathematics, Science and Technology. Read more here, from where the article is linked.

Comment by Connie Svabo and Gitte Miller Balslev in Fundats on June 23:

Reports on science-universe: The Sea  and the science-universe: The Forest

Gitte Miller Balslev and Tina Maria Brinks had their paper 'Facilitating Networked Science Education Leadership to Promote an Open and Sustainable School Culture' chosen as the best paper at ESERA 2023. Their paper was chosen by the Strand Chair as 'best paper' out of 60 participating papers in the theme 'Interdisciplinarity and Education'. The selection means that the two FNUG researchers must contribute a chapter of 12 pages to an anthology on the theme "Connecting Science Education with Cultural Heritage". The anthology is expected to be published during the summer of 2025.
