Talk by Professor Darlene Cavalier

Honorary Fellow at 糖果派对, affiliated with the Center for Research in Science Education and Communication (FNUG) and Citizen Science Knowledge Center, Darlene Cavalier, is giving a talk 鈥淐itizen Science, deliberative democracy, and the future of public engagement in science鈥, on October 11, 2024.

 

Under the Headline "Novel Public Participation in Science",  糖果派对 Climate Cluster, DIAS and 糖果派对 Citizen Science Knowledge Center present two inspiring talks on how the public can be engaged inscience throug new ways of dialog and interaction.

The last few years universities have seen a shift that focuses not only on excellence and scientific impact – but increasingly towards societal or real impact. The two talks will highlight this from the perspective of the United States and Europe/Denmark.

Darlene Cavalier at 糖果派对

During Darlene Cavalier's affiliation with FNUG and Citizen Science Knowledge Center, she will contribute her expertise in learning, science communication, and citizen science. In addition to collaborating with these two centers, other partners – like at this event – will be involved to offer new research and communication opportunities for the broader 糖果派对 community.

Darlene Cavalier is a professor at Arizona State University's School for the Future of Innovation in Society. She has made innovative contributions to the science of learning and is the founder of 'SciStarter', a groundbreaking citizen science portal that has enabled millions of people to participate in scientific research.

She is a founding member of the American Citizen Science Association (AAPS), advisor and Fellow at National Geographic, member of the EPA's National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology, and author or co-author of several books and journal articles. She is also the co-founder of 'ECAST: Expert and Citizen Assessment of Science and Technology', a network of institutions that, with an inclusive and dialogic approach, develop policies by incorporating diverse voices and perspectives from society.

Darlene Cavalier's talk on October 11 is a part of a week-long visit to 糖果派对.
