Clinical Professor Kristine Bjørndal leads the section. Our core team consists of twelve head and neck surgery specialists, including one professor, four associate professors, and seven PhD holders. Additionally, PhD students and medical students contribute valuable insights to our research.
We collaborate both nationally and internationally to enhance diagnostic procedures and treatment strategies in head and neck surgery. By utilizing national databases and conducting high-standard prospective research projects, our work contributes in developing and refining national and international guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of both malignant and benign head and neck diseases.
A key objective of our research is to improve the Danish Head and Neck Cancer Fast Track Program. Notably, we chair the Danish national guidelines for salivary gland cancer and thyroid cancer, as well as the Danish Head and Neck Cancer Group (DAHANCA) and the Danish Thyroid Cancer Group (DATHYRCA).
Our teaching is firmly rooted in evidence-based medicine, ensuring high-quality education for medical students and future ENT Head & Neck Surgery specialists. As part of our commitment to research, we maintain a minimum of two active PhD projects at all times, with the potential for more depending on funding availability.
