2025 is off to a strong start – Reflections on the past year and visions for the year ahead

2024 has been a fantastic year for the Center for Liver Research. We have reached many milestones that we can look back on with pride.
One of the highlights has been our strengthened collaboration with patients, who now actively contribute input on how we ensure that our research is as relevant and meaningful to patients as possible.
We have also made a scientific mark with a series of publications in some of the world’s leading journals. All of these contributions work towards the same goal: a better understanding of liver diseases and the development of more effective methods for early detection and treatment.
Our research is carried out in close collaboration with partners at Odense University Hospital, the University of Southern Denmark, and a broad national and global network.
A particular highlight in 2024 has been our exchange of researchers with countries such as Spain, Italy, and Austria, which has provided us with valuable international perspectives.
We have also presented our research at numerous large national and international conferences, where our contributions have sparked exciting ideas and inspired new collaborations.
In my role as leader of EASL, I have also had the pleasure of working on the development of our journals, meetings, educational programs, and engagement in political matters – including in collaboration with the WHO.

2025 promises to be even more exciting. We look forward to new major projects and significant funding that will enable even more patient-centered initiatives and strengthen our contribution to the development and improvement of treatments – both in Denmark and globally.
Thanks to all our partners, patients, and colleagues who have helped make 2024 a memorable year.
We look forward to continuing the journey together in 2025!
