Nicolas Ubrig is Assistant Professor in experimental physics at the University of Southern Denmark (ÌǹûÅɶÔ) in Odense since 2025, working at the Mads Clausen Institute (MCI) and the Center for Polariton-driven Light-Matter Interactions (POLIMA). He studied Physics in Stuttgart, Saarbrücken (Saarland University), and Nancy (Université Henri Poincaré) through a joint program from the Université franco-allemande. He completed his Ph.D. in Physics at Université de Toulouse in the high magnetic field laboratory (LNCMI). He pursued a postdoctoral position and later a senior research associate position at the University of Geneva. He worked in the Department of Quantum Matter Physics, focusing on the study of novel low-dimensional materials and their optical, electronic, and magnetic properties.
His research focuses on controlling electronic phases in solids and exploring light-matter coupling in 2D materials. He has a particular interest in magnetic materials, artificial structures of 2D materials, and the optoelectronic properties of semiconductors. His investigations employ a variety of quantum optical experiments and electronic transport measurements.
